Senior Process Chemist job opportunity for a leading chemicals manufacturer based in Lancashire.

Job Opportunity – Senior Process Chemist (Organic)

Company:   Chemicals manufacturer based in the Lancashire area, working on the development of organic compounds working from bench through to pilot and plant scale. 

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (40 hours per week) Some flexibility in hours is available.

NB - This role is site based.

Duration:  Permanent.

Location: Lancashire

Salary: Up to £60k, depending on skills and experience

You  will be involved in:

• Developing new and existing synthetic chemistry processes from bench to pilot plant and in conjunction with chemical enigeering colleagues through plant scale.
• Project managing processes to ensure delivery of products within agreed timeframes and budgets.
• Working with QC, Engineering, HAZOP and procurement teams  to ensure H&S, compliance and smooth running of projects.
• Overseeing and troubleshooting the manufacture of compounds at production scale and working with operators on new SOPs .
• Looking at trends and innovations to develop new compounds and R&D processes.

You will need:

• Chemistry qualification at degree level or above (ideally MSC or PhD).
• At least 3  years industrial experience carrying out synthetic organic chemistry at bench and pilot plant scale.
• Knowledge of scale-up/tech transfer and working on a plant facility.
• Excellent problem solving, communication and time management skills.
• An inquisitive nature to help improve chemistry and processes.
